How to Create and Manage Shipments in the Xebra System
Shipments can be utilized to track cost, weight, shipping dates, and tracking numbers. The Xebra has a mechanism referred to as ODBC (Open Database Connectivity). This driver is used in transferring data to other ODBC compliant software platforms, such as UPS WorldShip and FedEx Ship Manager, to manage and organize your data in a custom fashion. A shipment can be setup in the Xebra, which will contain the destination address, items, and shipping details. Your Shipping Software will pull that information from the Xebra at the time it is processing the shipment. Once the shipment has been processed, the pertinent shipping details are sent back to the Xebra System.
We have separate documentation available that explains how to import and export information from the UPS WorldShip and FedEx Ship Manager applications. If you intend to interface the Xebra with either application, let us know and we will forward the appropriate documentation to you. You will need to read and carry out the instructions in the document before using shipments in the Xebra. This document will not explain in any detail how to use either application. It will only explain the import and export process as it relates to the Xebra. If you would like more information about these applications, then please contact UPS or FedEx.
Although it is easier to manage shipments with a Third Party Shipping Software, it is not required in order to use the Shipments feature in the Xebra. You are able to manually enter information about shipments (such as cost, tracking information, etc.) so that they are accessible in the Xebra. |
