Some products require extensive details to be provided when issuing a purchase order to the vendor. While the questions asked will generally remain static, the answers to those questions will vary for each order. Specifications Masks provide you the means to organize these questions in a fashion that allows even the most novice order entry personnel to accurately complete an order. Other features within an item record or line item (i.e. Long Descriptions and Instructions) may be used to accomplish this though for extensive details and re-occurring situations Specifications Masks are ideal. Specification Masks may be created and/or edited from job specific line items, however, the initial creation of a mask will best be done from Utilities. The main advantage of this is the ability to save the mask to the Specifications Mask library in Utilities. Using the Go menu, navigate to Utilities. The first option with the Xebra Utilities dialog is Specification Masks. Select this option to open the Mask Editor dialog. Through the Mask Editor you have access to the full library of masks that have been saved, may develop new masks and can alter existing masks. Before exploring design options, let’s take a look at the library. File > Open You will now see a list of available specification masks. These are prefabricated masks and may be altered and/or renamed to suit your needs. To get an idea of what a finished mask will look like and what purpose they may be used for, take a moment and review a few of these existing masks. To open a mask from the library, simply double-click the mask title.
