From the Accounting Node, select Ledger > Chart of Accounts.

From the Chart of Accounts menu, select Actions > Print Chart.  Click OK to generate the report.

There are two types of general ledger accounts used:

General Accounts - If you look at the sample under the heading GEN/DET, you will see a G associated with these accounts.  General Accounts are totaling accounts.  Money can never be posted directly to a General Account.
Detail Accounts - If you look at the sample under the heading GEN/DET, you will see a D associated with these accounts.  Detail accounts can receive postings.

The only way that money gets into a General Account is when a Detail Account totals into it.   Look at account number 1100 in the sample.  Under REFERENCE, it has the number 11.  This means that account number 1100 (Checking Account) will total into account number 11 (Cash in Banks).   Notice that account number 11 shows account number 1 (Assets) in the REFERENCE column.  This means that account number 11 will be totaled into account number 1.  Account number 1 is a Level 1 account.  It does not have a reference account because it does not total into any other account.
